These Prayer Flags are Handmade in Nepal and are inscribed with auspicious symbols, invocations, prayers, and mantras. Each flag is 19cm x 16cm, 25 flags, with a total length, including string of 452cm (approx 4.5 metres plus)
Tibetan Buddhists for centuries have hung these flags outside their homes, places of spiritual practice and on high mountain passes for the wind to carry the beneficent vibrations across the countryside.
Prayer flags are said to bring happiness, long life and prosperity to all in the vicinity. The prayers printed on the flags are traditional Buddhist symbols, protectors and enlightened beings.
Displayed with respect, the flags impart a feeling of harmony and protection.
Tara prayer flag, in Tibetan Buddhism, represents a prayer dedicated to the female deity Tara, often considered the goddess of compassion and protection.
Chenrezig prayer flag, in Tibetan Buddhism, represents a prayer dedicated to the deity Chenrezig (also known as Avalokiteshvara) promoting compassion, peace, and good fortune.
Medicine Buddha prayer flag, in Tibetan Buddhism, represents a prayer dedicated to the deity Medicine Buddha, wishing all to be free from sickness and suffering.
Health and harmony are produced through the balance of the five elements:
Blue symbolizes the sky and space,
White symbolizes the air and wind,
Red symbolizes fire,
Green symbolizes water,
Yellow symbolizes earth.
Prayer Flags are intentionally left unhemmed. It is symbolic of the inevitable passing of all things that they fade and fray.
